Sanremo 2011 - quarta serata LIVE

Sanremo 2011 is a success what comes to viewing figures and tonight's one of the most interesting evenings so the success should continue easily: the duets and the newcomers final. Robert De Niro and Monica Bellucci will be guests. Join me tonight for live blogging.

21.09 We are ready to connect with Teatro Ariston and ready for the second last night in Sanremo this year.Dancers are warming their muscles backstage.... a tra poco!
21.15 we are enjoying some flashmob like waltzer outside Teatro Ariston. Let's get in ok?And indeed we move to the stage where Belen and Elisabetta are dancing and soon joined by other dancers. And then Morandi enters with the glass elevator tonight. He reminds us amongst other things the visit by Roberto Benigni  and the peak of viewing figures; over 19 million at times! Tonight it's televote for everyone, then mixed with the jury (orchestra) vote. And the televote is open! Five votes per phone allowed.
21.25 Time for the first song: Luca Barbarossa and Raquel del Rosario with Neri Marcorè. Fine in fondo.Aftar a long "humourous bla bla bla" by Luca and Neri they finally hit the song. Black red and white for them tonight. Neri seems to be playing guitar and thus adding nothing to the song that sounds better everytime! It's growing to become my top favourites by now. Raquel has already been telling everyone who will listen that in case RAI picks them for Eurovision she isn't going. She is Spanish. Well, I don't think RAI would send them anyways which is a shame, they would fit in nicely! And after song Neri continues with his speech... Was that supposed to be funny?
21.33 Time to unite the team, so here come Luca and Paolo. And Morandi gets the flowers tonight! Flowers of Sanremo of course... Shame they don't use the flowers on stage anymore like they used to. Also that made Sanremo Sanremo.
21.37 Now it's time for La Crus with Nina Zilli, The one I really look forward to, Io confesso. Indeed it's pretty fabulous. And Nina is about half a meter taller than he is, lol. This song is perfect for Nina, I don't know who else could have sung it with them. She's a vision in white while the opera lady is in black like the guys. Very nice! We need a break now to cherish this moment.....
21.43 Now we are back and move to Anna Tatangelo with Loredana Errore in Bastardo. Anna is in white and black with a make up that makes her look like she suffered too many plastic surgeries around her eyes... ?? Loredana is in white and a victim of that crazy hairdresser. Vocally they are not in top form and I don't understand how some Eurovision fans are so enthuastic about this song? It's ok but not a masterpiece.
21.50 Next Max Pezzali with comics Lillo and Greg in Il mio secondo tempo. Finally a song that has been totally rearranged. The unoriginal pop song turns into a swinging big band song and works nicely! Ha ha this is quite fun! First act (primo tempo) was jazzy with Greg and Lillo and second act  (secondo tempo) is the pop with Max.And Greg froze. I guess no one has stayed on stage for two minutes frozen before! Quite funny!
21.56 Off to Tricarico and Si La Sol choir in 3 colori. It's a child choir. Oh sh*t! Makes me dislike this song even more. Next please!
22.06 After commercial break we are back. With Monica Bellucci, actress and one of the most beautiful women in the world if you ask me....Also Morandi is pretty speechless as he confesses he's a great fan!
22.12 ... and he can't keep his hands off her......and then enters her co-star in a new movie Manuale d'amore 3  Robert De Niro.
22.23 Taken my a stranger has won in Germany with 79% of the votes beating Push forward in superfinal. while Morandi made a fool of himself on stage with La Bellucci and De Niro.
22.25 Back to business. Giusy Ferreri with the lead singer of Le Vibrazioni, Francesco Sarcina and Il mare immenso. The duet doesn't really bring nothing to the song if not relief: you don't have to listen to Giusy all the time which is good!
22.33 All Sicilian act next: Luca Madonia ft Franco Battiato with Carmen Consoli and L'alieno. Carmen looks quite stunning in her black minidress and pink guitar that she plays with great concentration. The song and arrangement is the same without major changes. Except Battiato doesn't hide behind the piano but comes to the front line and they form a trio. Nice. I like the song but it is nothing new.
22.39 And we go on. Nathalie with L'Aura and Vivo sospesa. They are doing the doublepiano stunt ala Romania 2010 or Germany 1988. Works nicely and they sing nicely together. Nathalie wears a pink girly dress for a change. The arrangement seems to be less rock guitar oriented and sounds great!
22.44 And Robert De Niro is back.
22.50 Meanwhile in Spain Auryn perform El sol brillerá by Rafael De Alba!!!!! :-))))
22.57 And we are back to music in Sanremo. It's Roberto Vecchioni with PFM and Chiamami ancora amore. This seems to be the rockband version of the song instead of the big orchestra one. I think I prefer the latter. And we are off to a break after that.
23.11 And now we have Take That including Robbie! Performing The Flood live.
23.16 And Blue in Spain doing Breath easy. It's a boyband night!
23.20 It's time for Davide Van De Sfroos with Irene Fornaciari and Yanez.Irene fits like a glove to this hippie circus and makes the song better.
23.34 In Spain the final songs have been selected. Eos for Melissa and Volver for Auryn easily but Lucia's songs Que me quiten lo bailao and Abrazame caused a stir after jury votes but the fist one it is...Meanwhile in Sanremo Albano and Michele Placido with Amanda é libera. With an actor it turns very dramatic but the song is good, I can admit it now after all these hearings.
23.40 Arriverá - Modá & Emma with Francesco Renga is the last one of the Big and then we have to hurry for Micaela in newcomers or she can't sing at all... This song has been rearranged and it's very acoustic, soft and their voived blend together well when they don't have to shout over the guitars. Well done. This highlights the song nicely.
23.45 The voting has ended for the big and we move on to the newcomers final. There is the televote and the orchestra votes 50-50. But - the radio stations have a joker. They can move one of the songs one place up. So if their favourite comes 4th they can move it to 3rd place, or if they prefer the song that came 2nd they can move it as the winner! That's the news after last year's chaos... and we have Micaela on stage, just in time with her Fuoco e cenere. She's still likable, the song is beautiful and very Sanremo like. Could also be a good Eurovision entry. She seems to have problems with her earpiece and had some shaky notes here and there. But hey, it's so late! She got flowers and was very sweet in the interview. Likable as I said!
23.58 We go on. Raphael Gualazzi and Follie d'amore.  Let's see if his status as the favourite and possible joker for Dusseldorf will carry all the way tonight.... I had a moment I thought I like this but I'm not so sure anymore if I would like to listen to this once Sanremo is over? Propably not...
00.05 And we move on. Roberto Amadè with Come pioggia. He seems more relaxed and casula tonight with his guitar this time. This would be a great Eurovision entry and just gets better by every listening. The orchestration and melody makes me think of Battiato's masterpiece La cura, but in a good way. As a compliment.
00.11 Lucia Perez wins in Spain with 68% of votes. Boh! Well, at least it's a Spanish song. While in Sanremo Serena Abrami is on stage with Lontano da qui. She is sweet and sings well this little tune. Me likes. But I hope Roberto would win! And I'd like to drop Tricarico but he might as well end up in top-3 as far I know so Van De Sfroos and Pezzali or Ferreri out. We'll see shortly.
00.19 Stop to televote! And here come Luca and Paolo again.
00.26 And now we can enjoy some Belen Rodriguez again while waiting for the results....
00.29 We are ready for the results.... 4. Serena Abrami 3. Roberto Amadè 2. Micaela and 1. Raphael Gualazzi and now let's see what the radios says.... so called Golden share... but it is Raphael so he is the winner! Well, that's not a surprise.... WINNER RAPHAEL GUALAZZI. He seems also very very shy..... He also gets the award given by the Liguria region. And the Mia Martini award.
00.37 And now for the rest, who will drop out from tomorrow's final?'
00.43 we are almost ready for the rest of tonight's results.
00.45  the first qualifier is.... La Crus! :-) then.... Giusy Ferreri :-( . Davide Van De Sfross!!?? Luca Madonia ft Franco Battiato :-) Nathalie! :-))) Anna Tatangelo :-o, Modá & Emma..... Albano! So both dropped by jury have been saved by televote... Roberto Vecchioni and the last one is..... Luca Barbarossa & Raquel del Rosario!!! :-)) Max Pezzali and Tricarico are out!!!! :-))))))))
00.55 Phew, it's over. Good night and buona notte! Tomorrow the final night and the Eurovision entry revealed! Can't wait!

"Al Bano doesn't even know the name of the Greek guy he was singing with!"

Al Bano recorded with Giannis Ploutarhos entire album "Dyo Fones Mia Psyhi" (Two Voices One Soul) which was released last week.

"Me Mia Matia/Felicita" is a new entry at #3 on the Greek singles chart this week (Greece Digital Songs chart is compiled by Nielsen and published by Billboard).

Well, then he must be getting old as he couldn't remember his name but had to ask the guy to introduce himself. He did remember the lady's name though so he isn't completely senile....

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

ESC 2013: SERBIA'S BIG GUNS

Serbia is one of the most succesful Eurovision countries in the recent years and this blogger 's favorites. This year I am again very curiously waiting for their entry and what they will offer us when they have a national final once again after last year's internal selection. Many bigger and smaller names have been rumored to have sent a song, or have confirmed so themselves. Among then a 63-year-old disco diva Neda Ukraden , Eurovision veteran Vukašin Brajić 's OT Band, Danijel Pavlovic who is Marija Serifovic's step-brother, national final veteran Ana Nikolic and other names like Nenad Cvijetic , Dejan Petrovic, Zejna , Ivana Pavkovic , Vanja Mijatovic .... Let's see who really are in when the final 15 out of 80 will be announced for the March 2, 2013 final. These 15 will be cut to five for the superfinal by televoting. Then we have Bojan Bjelic , who apparently was sending his song Mora before he decided not to blaming the contest is fixed and Serbian

Summer songs: Samantha Fox & Sabrina - Call me

Summertime is the time for cover versions and remixes. The late 1980's war of the boombs is over when Samantha and Sabrina put their bras together and cover Blondie's Call me in peace and harmony. Amore, chiamami!

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local.  The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist,  as a journalist, as a delegation member. I met some great people, made memories of lifetime. In stressful, sad periods of my life this blog has been my safe place, a place to escape and forget everything else for an hour o

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

Et voilà! Anggun presents Echo (You and I)

So today we finally heard the French entry in Eurovision 2012 in Baku by Anggun. Echo (You and I ) is rather bizarre mix of many things and just when you think you get it the songs takes a turn to another direction. Whistling all along. Very catchy it is. Call it an earworm if you want. Still I wouldn't scream a winning entry but... we will see. In Patricia Kaas like ending me thinks.

Blogilkar exclusive: PASHA PARFENI INTERVIEW

My flying reporter Robert managed to get hold on Pasha Parfeni from Moldova today who has become during this week pretty big favorite to do well. How did he end up in Eurovision, what his goals are and is his granny better than the ones from Buranovo? And will we get a cover album full of Eurovision later on? Find it out here: Why do you want to participate in Eurovision? That's a very difficult question... I want to be a star! A worldstar, ha ha! But I know it's not easy even in Eurovision, only Celine Dion and ABBA have made it. But I can make myself a bit more known, it's good for promotion. After Eurovision I will finish my album and my promo-CD already has nine songs. We will recod maybe 4-5 more and it will make a good album. With what result will you be happy here? Happy? … Top-10! Then I'll be absolutely happy! So if you don't get to the final you will be totally depressed? Yes, maybe... Yes, it would be hard. For me and my team. What are y

Blogilkar Exclusive: RAMBO AMADEUS INTERVIEW

My flying reporter Robert met Rambo Amadeus in his hotel this morning and what an interesting and entertaining meet it was! Unfortunately the time wasn't enough as this man has lots to tell about many topics. However, here are the main things! Thank you Rambo for this interview and first of all, how an earth Montenegro wanted you to represent them in Eurovision? I don't know! I really don't know. I didn't want to ask any questions why they wanted me. So they came to you, you didn't go to them? Of course. Everybody comes to me..... And everybody knows you and that you are bit, maybe a lot, Eurovision skeptic. Why did they come to you then? Well, I think they want the audience to pay attention to them? I think the new, young and ambitious director of RTCG decided to do some kind of shock therapy. He probably thinks there's nothing to lose. I asked him "Are you sure? Do you know my work?" and he said yes. I think they are learning how to g

REMEMBERING MARILYN MONROE

It's 50 years since Marilyn Monroe passed away on August 5, 1962. Her legend still lives on and there's no doubt she got "it". Probably very much misunderstood and surely underrated she remains one of the biggest stars on this planet ever. How many fans have really seen her movies, I mean all of them? Not only the 2-3 most successful ones where she played pretty much the same dumb blond? Thee's so much more to her if you watch all her work.... And had she lived. She would be 86 now.  Like this .
