LIVE: Sanremo 2012 - Quarta serata

Here we go again. Sanremo's fourth night. Let's see how long this will take :-) And there's televote!

21.01 Noemi and Gaetano Curreri. Not much change to the song except it's now a duet. And it works as such as well nicely. Yet, the song is not one of my favourites as I don't find it very interesting nor original. But she's one of the favourites for victory.
21.07 Pierdavide Carone, Lucio Dalla and Gianluca Grignani. Well, I thought I'd grow to like this a lot but instead I found myself now bored even if the duet works well. Carone's and Grignani's voices match really nicely.
21.13 Dolcenera and Max Gazzé. Tonight we go fast at least for now :-) Well, this is one of my favourites and I like Dolcenera but Max didn't really add that much to the song. Better as solo I'm afraid. (I should have kept silent about going fast as Dolcenera was followed by some bla bla bla from Gianni and Rocco and then entered Ivana for some more nonsense. And now we have pubblicità....)
21.28 and we are back with Gigi D'Alesssio, Loredana Bertè and DJ Fargetta. Now this is what this night should be about: a total remix. Fargetta is a legend! The stage is full of dancers and Gigi looks like he came out some gayclub in San francisco in late 70's and Loredana... well, Loredana looks like always. The stage has turned into a dancefloor and Fargetta is Fargetta, no matter what song he takes it is something you listen with pleasure in a club at night after a drink or two.... Re-re-respirare!
21.37 Next Chiara Civello with Francesca Michelin. The return of the double piano. Francesca's vocals ruin the rest of the song, that has been rearranged. This is propably the most boring song this year after all....
21.43 enters Sabrina Ferilli, actress and ex-Sanremo hostess. A real Roman beauty. This blogger's secret love.... how I adore her accent. My accent. I miss Rome all of sudden.... Oh, she sings with Morandi. Well, maybe she should stick to acting but who cares? She's pretty, funny and full of self irony so she can also sing if she wants to....
22.00 Samuele Bersani with Paolo Rossi next.  Another useless duet that gives nothing new to the song, on the contrary, it's better as original solo. Especially when it looks and sounds like Rossi doens't even know the lyrics...
22.15 after ads comes Eugenio Finardi, Peppe Servillo of Avion Travel. And now this is a well doen duet. their voices match together and the song stays strong, even stronger. Well done!
22.20 Nina Zilli, Guiliano Palma and Fabrizio Bosso next. Bosso played with Raphael Gualazzi last year and Nina and Giuliano have collaborated in the past so this is all fine. Also this duet works very well and the jazzy arrangements sounds great, too. If Nina went to Baku 2012 I'd be a happy blogger!
22.38 Arisa and Marco Ermanno Giovanardi next.  This is slowly becoming my favourite song this year! Arisa is fantastic and this duet works very well, too. The violin ads nice atmosphere and this could also be a good one for Baku 2012! And after that we have some "humour" again....
22.56 and finally we are back to the game. Emma comes with Alessandra Amoroso. Unfortunately also this song is losing its appeal more I hear it.This duet was fine as theoir voices are very similar. Meanwhile the little birds from Sanremo tell Emma is definately out of race for Baku 2012. But it's going to be a girl anyways (Erica? Dolcenera? Arisa? Noemi? Nina?)
23.08 we are almost there. Matia Bazar and Platinet, another weird combination on paper. But it was rather nice. Platinet wasn't in drag but himself and did a monologue before the song broke out and it was quite clever! And it all ends with "I love heteros" that Morandi responds "I love gays", in reference to last night's humour act I missed I guess. Morandi even received a gay kiss. Or something.
23.15 last but not least for the Artisti Francesco Renga with Scala & Kolacni Brothers choir. Sounds nice but I have never been fan of his but I know many are. So, the Artisti is now over. Out of these 12 two will be kicked out tonight and they will join Marlene Kuntz and Irene Fornaciari. The other ten will move to tomorrow night's grand final.
23.25 it's Rocco Papaleo time. He even gets to sing a bit of Stormy weather. I didn't know him before but I'm warming up to him and his way of doing things. :-) Could have been someone much, much worse as the co-host as Morandi is a bit like Toto Cutugno in Eurovision 1991...
23.33 time for One Direction, apparently #1 on the Italian album charts right now.... Oh oh oh. meanwhile the televote for the Artisti has been closed.
23.40 and the Newcomers final will start now. The originally eight entries came throug SanremoArea and SanremoSocial. There's a televote, the vote by the orchestra 50-50 and then voters in Facebook have also a Golden Jolly,as do online voters meaning they can move one artist up one place.
23.43 Alessandro Casillo starts. If he wins tonight he can't sing his song again or even come on stage and accept the award as he's underage. And every year that rule makes me think how come they can't have this Newcomers first or in the middle. It's midnight as well so who's televoting anymore? And if he wins it's all so riduclous... like his haircut. But that's another story. And the poor baby breaks in tears after his song!
23.48 and we move on to the next one, Io ho sempre voglia. I don't understand how they made it that far....
00.02 Marco Guazzone next. He has changed his jacket but it's as sparkly as the previous one. Again very good. I like this song. Again the guy with piano eyes closed effect.
00.07 last but not least it's Erica Mou, heavily tipped also for Baku 2012. Nice song and she performs it very well. Well, she wrote it.
And after that we are into RAI's self promotion in form of Strictly come dancing. Anna Tatangelo seems to be taking part with Bobo Vieri and some other random football player....
00.28 the televote is now closed.
00.35 and here comes the newcomer's results. After the televote and orchestra's  votes 4th: Guazzone, 3rd Mou, 2nd Iohosemprevoglia and 1st Casillo. Golden share of radio goes to Erica Mou so she climbs one spot. Golden share of Facebook goes to Casillo so he wins!
1. Alessandro Casillo
2. Erica Mou (She wins also Premio Mia Martini, the critic's award)
3. Iohosemprevoglia
4. Marco Guazzone
And of course they cannot award him at this hour..... ridiculous!
00.52 and the ones out of final in Artisti are Matia Bazar and Chiara Civello. And that's all folks....

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

Blogilkar exclusive: PASHA PARFENI INTERVIEW

My flying reporter Robert managed to get hold on Pasha Parfeni from Moldova today who has become during this week pretty big favorite to do well. How did he end up in Eurovision, what his goals are and is his granny better than the ones from Buranovo? And will we get a cover album full of Eurovision later on? Find it out here: Why do you want to participate in Eurovision? That's a very difficult question... I want to be a star! A worldstar, ha ha! But I know it's not easy even in Eurovision, only Celine Dion and ABBA have made it. But I can make myself a bit more known, it's good for promotion. After Eurovision I will finish my album and my promo-CD already has nine songs. We will recod maybe 4-5 more and it will make a good album. With what result will you be happy here? Happy? … Top-10! Then I'll be absolutely happy! So if you don't get to the final you will be totally depressed? Yes, maybe... Yes, it would be hard. For me and my team. What are y

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local.  The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist,  as a journalist, as a delegation member. I met some great people, made memories of lifetime. In stressful, sad periods of my life this blog has been my safe place, a place to escape and forget everything else for an hour o

FINLAND: CONGRATS HANNA PAKARINEN - BABY IS COMING!

No more leave me alones as Eurovision 2007 veteran Hanna Pakarinen has published in her Youtube channel a video unboxing the Finnish state's maternity box aka layette set thus announcing she's due to have a baby later this spring. Congratulations!

Summer songs: Kylie Minogue - On a night like this

This is one of the songs that make me think of sweaty summer nights, humid air and being slightly drunk... I wonder where that all comes from? Anyways. Kylie Minogue recorded On a night like this, maybe not first but better than Pandora or Anna Vissi . And Lord which is actually great!

Summer songs: Samantha Fox & Sabrina - Call me

Summertime is the time for cover versions and remixes. The late 1980's war of the boombs is over when Samantha and Sabrina put their bras together and cover Blondie's Call me in peace and harmony. Amore, chiamami!

GREECE: HELENA PAPARIZOU HITS AGAIN WITH HAIDE

Eurovision song contest 2005 winner Helena Paparizou has been enjoying Top-5 hits every year since 2003 with the exception of 2010 and 2014, this latest one being already her 27th! And Haide is charting also in Bulgaria and Finland, of all places. The catchiness of her hits has changed less over the years than her face....  Here's the English version , below the Greek version.

CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam
